Delete Instance

Deleting an Instance permanently removes it and all associated data from your DewaVPS account. This action stops all billing for the specific Instance resources.

Consequences of Deletion​

When you delete a DewaVPS Instance:

  • The Instance and its primary disk are permanently erased.
  • All data stored on the Instance's primary disk is irretrievably lost.
  • The public IP address assigned to the Instance is released back into the datacenter's pool. You will not be able to retrieve the same IP address for a future Instance.
  • Billing for the deleted Instance resources ceases after the deletion is complete.
  • If selected during the deletion process, associated resources like attached Object Storage or Public Network allocations linked specifically to that Instance will also be deleted.

Warning Deleting an Instance is an irreversible action. Once an Instance is deleted, neither the Instance nor its data can be recovered by you or DewaVPS. Ensure you have backed up any critical data before proceeding with deletion.

Deleting an Instance via the DewaVPS Control Panel​

Follow these steps to permanently delete an Instance using the DewaVPS customer control panel:

  1. Log in to your DewaVPS account.
  2. Navigate to the Instances section, located in the sidebar menu.
  3. From the list of your Instances, click on the name of the Instance you wish to delete. This opens the Instance's detail or management page.
  4. Locate and click the Delete icon.
  5. A confirmation modal window will appear. This window requires you to confirm the deletion carefully:
    • Optional Checkboxes:
      • You will see a checkbox to delete associated Object Storage. Check this box only if you want to permanently delete any Object Storage volumes specifically attached to this Instance along with the Instance itself. Data on this Object Storage will be lost.
      • You will see a checkbox related to the Public Network or IP address. Checking this confirms you understand the Public IP address will be permanently released.
    • Instance Name Confirmation: You must type the exact name of the Instance you intend to delete into the provided text input field. This is a safety measure to prevent accidental deletion.
  6. Carefully review your selections and the Instance name you entered. Once you are absolutely sure, press the Delete button.
  7. Wait for the deletion process to complete. This usually takes a short amount of time.
  8. Done. The Instance is now permanently deleted and will disappear from your list of active Instances.
