๐๏ธ Quickstart
DewaVPS Virtual Private Servers (instances) are Linux-based virtual machines (VMs/Instance) running on our virtualized infrastructure. Each instance you create is a new server you can use independently or as part of a larger cloud setup.
๐๏ธ Recommended Setup
To ensure your DewaVPS Instance is secure, stable, and easier to manage from the start, we strongly recommend following these best practices during creation and initial configuration. While DewaVPS offers flexibility, these steps provide a robust foundation.
๐๏ธ Change Instance Resource
You can adjust the resources allocated to your DewaVPS Instance, such as CPU, RAM, and Disk space, to better match your application's performance needs or budget. This process is often called resizing or upgrading/downgrading.
๐๏ธ Connect to Instance
Once your DewaVPS Instance is created and running, you can connect to it to manage it, install software, and host your applications. There are typically two primary ways to connect: using SSH (Secure Shell) for command-line access, or using a web-based VNC console provided through the DewaVPS control panel.
๐๏ธ Create Instance
This guide walks you through the process of creating a new virtual private server (Instance) using the DewaVPS control panel.
๐๏ธ Securing Instances
Securing your cloud instances is critical for protecting sensitive data and ensuring system integrity. Whether you're deploying on Ubuntu or Windows, following a comprehensive set of hardening practices can drastically reduce your exposure to potential attacks. This guide outlines the essential steps for locking down your virtual machines (VMs) with clarity and precision.
๐๏ธ Reinstall Instance
Rebuilding an Instance wipes the Instanceโs disk entirely and replaces it with a fresh operating system (OS) or Application image that you select. This process allows you to choose from available OS images or pre-configured Application images compatible with your Instance plan.
๐๏ธ Delete Instance
Deleting an Instance permanently removes it and all associated data from your DewaVPS account. This action stops all billing for the specific Instance resources.
๐๏ธ Configure Instance Firewalls
DewaVPS Cloud Firewalls provide a crucial layer of security by acting as a virtual barrier controlling network traffic to and from your Instances before it reaches the operating system. Properly configured firewalls are essential for protecting your services from unauthorized access and potential attacks.
๐๏ธ Attach Block Storage to Instance
DewaVPS Block Storage provides network-based block devices, functionally identical to virtual hard drives, that you can attach to your Instances. Attaching a Block Storage volume is an effective way to add more storage capacity to an Instance beyond its primary root disk.
๐๏ธ Installing SSL
At DewaVPS, we strongly recommend installing an SSL certificate on all domains and subdomains hosted on your VPS. Whether you choose a free SSL solution or a premium certificate, having SSL installed ensures encrypted communication and builds trust with your website visitors.
